Who is asking

This site is run by Ramashram Alumni Association Society, a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, registration number UK0580872025015133, at Village Jakholi Lasya, District Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand 246141.

Questions about anything on this page go to info@ramaasociety.org, or to the Secretary of the association.

What we collect

Only what the membership form asks for, and nothing beyond it:

  • Your name and date of birth
  • Your mobile or WhatsApp number, and your email address
  • The years you were at Ramashram, and whether you completed your schooling here
  • Your profession, and what you do now if you choose to give it
  • Your village, and the address where you live now
  • A password, which is stored only as a one-way hash and cannot be read back by anyone

A photograph is optional. If you do not add one, your card shows your initials.

Why each of those

Your name and your years at the school are what place you with your batch, and what let other members recognise you. Your number and email are how the association writes to you before a gathering. Your address is needed because members are spread across the country and some notices still go by post.

Your date of birth is used to confirm identity where two members share a name, and for nothing else.

What is public, and what is not

The members page shows the association's primary members — name, the office they hold if they hold one, and whether they were a founder. Nothing else. No phone number, email, address, village, batch year or profession appears on any public page.

The wider member directory, when it opens, will be visible to signed-in members only, and you will be asked before your details are added to it. Until then it does not exist.

Anything you write on the blog is public under your name and batch for thirty days, and is then archived where only you can read it back.

Payments

Subscriptions are taken through Razorpay, or by transfer into the society's bank account. Card numbers, UPI IDs and bank credentials are handled entirely by Razorpay and never reach this site — the association only ever sees that a payment succeeded, its amount, and its reference number.

If you pay by transfer, the reference you enter and any receipt you upload are kept so the Treasurer can match your payment against the accounts.

Who can see your details

The office bearers of the association, for the work of the association. Nobody else.

Your details are not sold, rented, or shared with anyone outside the association. They are not shared with any political party, candidate or campaign — the society is barred from political activity by its own rules.

How long we keep them

For as long as you are a member, and afterwards in the society's records. A registered society is required to keep a record of its membership, so leaving the association does not erase the fact that you were once part of it.

You can ask for your contact details to be removed from active use at any time. Blog posts you wrote are kept on record, as everything on this blog is.

What you can ask for

  • A copy of what the association holds about you
  • A correction to anything that is wrong
  • Your contact details removed from active use
  • Your name taken off the members page

Write to info@ramaasociety.org. You will hear back within a reasonable time.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets one cookie, to keep you signed in. There is no advertising and no analytics service reading your visit.

The contact page embeds a Google map so you can see where Jakholi is. That map is loaded from Google, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads. It is the only third party on this site, it appears on that one page, and it loads only if you scroll down to it.

If anything else is ever added, this page will say so before it does.

This page is written to say what the association actually does. If something on the site changes and this page has not caught up, the association would rather be told — write to us.
